Because of his appearance on Rush Limbaugh, Walter is the only economist that many people really know of.
I've tried to explain some of my libertarian leanings to strictly conservative friends, and mentioning a few of Williams' insights to back up what I was saying gave it, and libertarains in general, the needed credibility.
