Revised Book Club Schedule

in Podcast

For those of you listening to the podcasts of the EconTalk book club on The Theory of Moral Sentiments, the next episode, episode 5—covering the end of Part III, Part IV and Part V— will be released a week from today, May 13. I'm expecting that there will be one more episode, covering Parts VI and VII along with some closing thoughts putting the book in perspective. It is planned for released on May 27.

I want to thank everyone who responded to my earlier request for info on your listening habits. Wonderful feedback.

I'd grown so spoiled by having two podcasts a week! Hope you can do something like this again after you finish TMS.

would love to see the book club extended to other works as well.

I will get around to listening to them. And if the pod casts can be Kindlized that would be even better. The device has (rudimentary) sound capabilities, I've read. I mean kindlized in the sense of being able to hear/read them on a Kindle, not that your efforts should be turned into kindle wood, and burnt for warmth or out of evil bookburningness.

I see an entrepreneurial opportunity here to turn podcasts and other (electronic)media type things into a moneymaking business. Why should Russ's efforts be strictly not for profit? No, they shouldn't. I've given someone the germ, or pod, of an idea. Raise the necessary capital to get the project underway; that's the American way. I would do it myself, if I could. I'll have to think some more about that, to tell you the truth.

Russ Roberts, would you mind sharing with us the result of your survey about the book club, and responses to the TMS in particular? I have these fears that I belong to a tiny community of maybe 4 or 5 people who care about this stuff. I'd like to believe my interests are in the middle of the bell curve, but they are probably way out on a thin tail. This is, after all, an economics forum, not a forum on moral philosophy.
