Dave Hebert alerts me to this manuscript [1] that illustrates the money experiment mentioned in this post of long ago [2]. The bottom line is that a trillion monkeys typing for a trillion years are unlikely to come up with more than a few words of Shakespeare. You really might need an infinite number of monkeys typing forever. And where would you find an infinite number of bananas to sustain them?
