Diving into the balance sheet

In general, I’d rather dive into the deep end than into the balance sheet of banks. But in this week’s EconTalk, I talk with Charles Calomiris [1] in depth about how banks work and the regulations they face in the name of creating stability. But stability turned out to be elusive. I ask a lot of dumb questions and learn a lot. At the end we get into the repo market. I’d like to go further into that topic another time. Suggestions for someone who understands that world and can talk about it clearly would be much appreciated.
