Two of the success stories in India’s economy since liberalization have been information technology and the Bollywood film industry. Meghnad Desai has pointed out [2] that neither was favored by government planners. The IT industry “is entirely a self-generated miracle” while Bollywood “is completely neglected by the government, and it is a global success.”
