I hope the good folks at the Wall Street Journal won’t mind my posting here, in full, Mario Rizzo’s short letter [2] that appears in today’s edition:

I am disturbed by your editorial “George McGovern” [3] (Oct. 22) on the death of George McGovern. The best thing you could find to say about him is that later in life he learned about the burdens of government regulation of business. But many conservatives and libertarians who love the free market as much as you do also value and praise him for his opposition to the ultimately pointless war in Vietnam. The war was an indirect cause of inflation, price controls and, most importantly, the loss of life of too many Americans (and Vietnamese) of my generation. This is more important than his admittedly foolish proposal to give $1,000 to every American.

From my friends at the Free To Choose Network:

“Europe’s Debt: America’s Crisis?” will have its first major broadcast on 10/31, covering most major public television markets in the US! Four investigative reports, shot on location in Greece, Brussels, California and Washington DC, highlight this in depth examination of Europe’s current debt crisis and its connection to the U.S. economy.  Dr. Donald J. Boudreaux and Johan Norberg host the program.
Check your local listings [4].

Additionally, it will be featured streaming free online for two weeks starting 11/1 at www.europesdebtamericascrisis.com!

But if you happen to miss out on both of those opportunities, have no fear – we’re on Amazon’s Instant Video service for rent or purchase! You can watch it at your convenience on any supporting devices!
Find it on Amazon [5].

We hope you’ll enjoy the show!

Arnold Kling inspired my most recent column in The Freeman [6].

Marlo Lewis is no member of the Pigou Club [7].  (Rightly so, I believe.)

Bjorn Lomborg gives further perspective on the alleged need for government to address climate change [8].

Dwight Lee warns that much modern behavioral social science is being misused to promote paternalism [9].

Richard Rahn continues to do his part to warn taxpayers against political bullies [10].
