Ralph Raico on the Industrial Revolution

The immense blessings of modernity – of liberal, market, innovative, bourgeois, “capitalist” society – come into stark relief when compared to people’s material and spiritual lives of as recently as a mere three centuries ago. In this splendid 76-minute long video from 1986, the historian Ralph Raico sets the historical record straight – an effort that blasts away at mountains of myths that continue to crush our ability to understand our past and to put our current lives into proper perspective. Note, by the way (from around the 30-minute mark), Ralph’s important emphasis on the fact that war is emphatically not an economic stimulant.
Please, do not miss this video. (HT Greg Rehmke)
