My friend Steve Pejovich - emeritus Professor of Economics at Texas A&M – sent the following note to me in response to my earlier post on “free” health care . I post Steve’s note here with his generous permission.
In 1984 I took a group of Texas high school teachers and students to USSR. A well-trained “guide” told my group that medical care in USSR is free. I asked whether doctors, nurses and drug making companies in Russia are paid. She ignored me.
