In volume II (“The Mirage of Social Justice”) of Law, Legislation, and Liberty, [2] Hayek argued that the term “social justice” is meaningless and, hence, that government policies justified in the name of “social justice” are inevitably counterproductive – and, often, downright dangerous. (I have always found, and continue to find, Hayek’s argument against both the concept and the term “social justice” to be both correct and important.)
