What Barofsky learned

Tweet [1]

This week’s EconTalk is a conversation with Neil Barofsky [2], author of Bailout [3]. Barofsky was the first Special Inspector General of the TARP funds–his job was to monitor how the money was spent, prevent fraud if possible and prosecute any criminal behavior surrounding the TARP. It is a fascinating book and the book and the EconTalk episode are great examples of applied public choice–how government actually works and the incentives at play rather than some romantic theory. Here’s an excerpt where Barofsky talks about what he learned in Washington. Very timely.
