You really are commended for producing a great show, Russ.
Thanks.
Econtalk Is way in the lead right now.
Just voted.
A question that occurs to me: there are economic theories of political voting, but what would the economic explanation for voting in something like this be? That is to say, why would people bother to participate at all, what would they stand to gain from it (from the perspective of economic theory, I know why I do it).
Anyway, I'm happy to vote for the podcast that has lowered the cost of enduring my 40 mile commute.
I love econ talk. I'm happy to vote. Congrats on the nomination
Wow, beating Harry Potter, no less.
You said you were getting a Keyensian on… I voted for your podcast. Good job!
A win is well deserved here. Good luck!
As per voting, I would put it economically in the realm of "paying to support something you wish to do well, without having to do the payment part."
In other words, you are encouraging and promoting something you enjoy and wish to see more of at very little cost to yourself. Thus you increase the likelihood that what you vote for continues and perhaps flourishes, and help ensure it will continue to be there for your consumption.
Just as voting with one's feet or dollars helps ensure a business stays in business, here you are generating free publicity for for this site.
Which is part of the reason things like the Mexican marches in the South a few years back were so disgusting: having voted with their feet for America, those immigrants then declared support for Mexico. Such hypocrisy.
