I'm not sure these two polls are analogous. If this was a poll from 1930, early into the crisis that led to the depression, that might mean something. But this poll was from 1937; almost a decade after the public went through years of bank failures and deposit losses.
I mean, it's interesting, but it's not a good basis for comparison of public opinion between then and now.
