My former student Clark Mann asked that I post here at the Cafe an essay that I wrote nearly ten years ago – on my son’s first day at pre-school – about the values that Karol and I hope to instill in our son. So far, I’m pleased to report, all seems well on that front.

Muirgeo, what on earth are you talking about? No conservative or libertarian on this blog is defending Goldman or any other recipient of government handouts. And the only reason they got those handouts is because the politicians you so adore, stole the money at the point of a gun from taxpayers and gave it to these pathetic welfare cases.
Try to get this through your head: All libertarians (and even most conservatives) oppose government handouts of any kind — especially to Wall Street fat cats.
