Quotation of the Day…

… is from page 357 of the 1980 collection of some of the chief writings of the great Frank Chodorov, Fugitive Essays; in particular, it’s from Chodorov’s 1946 article “Free Trade for Preparedness”:

The final argument for free trade as a measure of preparedness is that it tends to minimize the irritations which lead to war.  A free-trade nation is a nation of buyers, and on the recognized principle that “the buyer is always right,” such a nation is looked on with favor by its neighbors.

Or, as I’ve heard Tom Palmer summarize the case: “It’s a maxim of good business: Don’t Kill Your Customers!
