Ridley, the optimist

Here is the latest EconTalk, a conversation with Matt Ridley about his book, The Rational Optimist. We talked about the power of specialization, the nature of growth, the evolution of human activity and why people are pessimistic about the future. He sees the sexual division of labor in hunter/gatherer societies as a diversification strategy. And he has some interesting observations about climate change and other pessimistic scenarios.
