As Long As Consumers Aren’t Free to Choose, It’s Okay

Lamenting by e-mail recently with Cato’s Sallie James – who has done such excellent work on this matter – about the reauthorization of the U.S. Corporate Welfare Export-Import Bank, Sallie mentioned to me that even the editors of the “Progressive” New Republic support this reauthorization.  Which suggests the following rule…

“Progressives” are fond of corporate profits as long as government assists corporations to extract these profits from taxpayers or consumers with force.  In contrast, “Progressives” despise and denounce all profits that result from voluntary agreements and exchanges.

Strange.
