Reading along with EconTalk

In a week or so I’ll be interviewing Paul Tough on his new book, How Children Succeed. It is a fascinating book. I don’t agree with all of it but it’s the most provocative book I’ve read on both parenting and the problem of the underclass in a long time. Should be a good conversation. The EconTalk episode is likely to air at the end of September so if you’re interested in reading the book in advance, have it. The book comes out September 4.

I also want to recommend Bailout by Neil Barofsky, this Monday’s EconTalk guest. Barofsky was the SIGTARP–the Special Inspector General for TARP. His book is a memoir of his Washington experience. A great lesson in public choice economics and a very entertaining read.
