… is from an e-mail sent to me a few days ago by my friend Reuvain Borchardt; in this e-mail (shared here with Reuvain’s kind permission) Reuvain remarked upon Trump’s anger at Harley-Davidson for announcing that it is being prompted by rising tariffs to move more of its production out of the United States:
Trump reminds me of the father who smacks his child, and then gets angry when the child starts crying!
DBx: My reply to Reuvain was this: “Yes – and the father who smacks his child in this case does so only because the neighbor smacked his (the neighbor’s) child!”
Such is the bizarro ‘logic’ of protectionism scarcityism.
