… believes that the moment he goes into business and announces an intent to sell abroad, the government that has jurisdiction over him is duty-bound to promote his business abroad even though doing so requires seizing opportunities, resources, and rights from his fellow citizens.

The protectionist is uncommonly self-centered, greedy, and unscrupulous. All of his ruckus and speechifying about the welfare of the nation is nothing more than pathetic veneer for his avarice.
