Bonus Quotation of the Day…

… is this recent Facebook post by Bob Higgs:

Imagine people who are free to lie without adverse repercussions because, first, no one expects members of their group to tell the truth as a rule and, second, no one can hold them to account — that is, make the liars bear a personal cost — when their misrepresentations and dissimulation are exposed. Moreover, many of these people have lied so routinely for so long that they have lost the capacity to distinguish truth from falsehood, but say only what would seem to promote their interest at the moment.

You recognize, I suppose, that I am describing typical politicians and government functionaries.
