Dispassionate analysis is precisely what is missing in most discussions of race. Civil rights leaders would have us believe that the full array of problems encountered by blacks is the result of racial discrimination by whites. This is like blaming all crashes and falls on gravity or blaming house fires on oxygen. Like gravity and oxygen, discrimination in many forms is so widespread in any society that to use it as an explanatory variable for any result does not get us very far.
