And U.S. politicians and pundits who seek the money and subservience of their fellow citizens are especially talented at such deceptions, given that ordinary Americans’ riches have steadily increased over the decades, and they are among the richest people in the world. Yet the likes of Bernie Sanders on the left and Donald Trump on the right – each sound more like the other than either man cares to admit – have duped lots of Americans into believe that ordinary Americans are victims of ‘the system’ and have been “ripped off.”
