Although this TED Talk by Leslie Chang was delivered almost 14 years ago, it reveals a relevant reality about China’s industrialization, at least before the reign of Xi. Mistaken are the lazy protectionists’ tales of China’s economic growth being rooted in slave labor, as well as the lazy progressives’ tales of western corporations profiting at the expense of their workers in still-developing countries.
