Zimbabwe's Woe

Robert Mugabe, Zimbawe’s “elected” tyrant, continues an utterly predictable pattern.  His statist and corrupt economic policies smother wealth-producing efforts.  Such efforts as remain take place in the informal sector – in commercial nexuses formally prohibited by the state.

The tyrannical state, in turn, attempts ever more fiercely to shut down the informal sector, accusing merchants in this sector of being “economic saboteurs” – which is rather like a diseased and deformed baboon calling Charlize Theron ugly.

See this report from the BBC.

Hat tip to my better half.
