For Trump, That’s a Bug, Not a Feature

Here’s a letter to the Wall Street Journal.

Editor:

You wisely write that “in his desire to repudiate his domestic opponents, Mr. Trump would do well to avoid disdaining American values. They are still admired by the people who flock to our shores” (“The Trump Doctrine of the Deal,” May 16).

Alas, given Mr. Trump’s boorish and benighted abhorrence of many of the people who flock to our shores, this fact about the widespread appeal of American values is, for Mr. Trump, surely a bug rather than a feature.

Sincerely,
