Quotation of the Day…

… is from pages xii-xiii of Thomas Sowell’s 1994 book, Race and Culture as quoted on pages 203-204 of Maverick, Jason Riley’s superb 2021 intellectual biography Sowell:

There is seldom a shortage of people willing to draw up blueprints for salvation. What is important is that such people and those who judge their proposals both understand what they are talking about.

DBx: Indeed. And as Sowell himself has shown over and over again in his life’s work, never do any of the blueprint-wielding social and economic engineers – from the likes of Thomas Piketty and Bernie Sanders on the left to Oren Cass and Donald Trump on the right – have the remotest inkling of what they are talking (and writing and tweeting) about. They are oblivious to the unfathomably complex, dynamic, and local details of modern society.
